Peggy,

Thank you for the comment. For 2011 we will publicize the July 4th fireworks starting "at dark" to eliminate any confusion with a specific starting time. We always leave the final start time with the Pyrotechnician. Historically we have hit the 10:00-10:05PM consistently. This year a 12-15 MPH breeze came in at 10:00PM sharp and he elected to start the fireworks display at 10:15PM. This was for safety reasons alone. Hopefully your small children had some fun earlier in the evening with the Skydivers, Face Painters, Balloon Twisters and the Stilt Walker. Next year we plan on expanding the Kids Fun Zone even further to include a whole host of new additions aimed at the younger crowd to help parents entertain their kids. Thank you for your past support.

Best regards,

Scott

VERY disappointed in the late start of the Show. I know you are constrained by the available darkness, but it was plenty dark at 10 to start. We had small children who wanted to watch and they were beyond caring by 10:30. We have contributed for the 2 years we have lived here, but might have to reconsider next year. The boat parade was adorable!!!!

Where is the best place for pedestrians to view the fireworks this year? We live close to the Geist area, off of Fall Creek Road, and would like to know were we can see the fireworks. Thank you in advance for your help.

Jane, (Responded on 7-22-09 directly to Jane)

Thank you for commenting on the 2009 Fireworks and we are sorry that you
were disappointed with the venue change this year. Our intention this year
was to make the fireworks accessible to more Geist residents. Pasted below
is a listing of the 2009 Fireworks supporters, sponsors, vendors and
volunteers. This event is 100% sponsored by donations and volunteers and
this was the 10th year that our group (the Geist Lake Coalition) put on the
holiday display. The GHPOA does contribute $2,500 ($1 per household) each
year to this event and we are very grateful for that support! The GHPOA does
not put on any fireworks displays. The 2009 location was just south of Bella
Vita and just east of the Indianapolis Sailing Club cove making it a pretty
central location. We would like to hear any additional suggestions and
recommendations you might have for 2010 and would welcome a phone call to
discuss further. Thank you.

Best regards,

Scott Rodgers
Admirals Sound resident

PS: The Geist Lake Coalition (www.geistlake.org) is not only about the
annual fireworks. Previously we raised $67,000 to help the Fishers Fire
department buy a Fire & Rescue Boat for Geist. We are also responsible for
spinning off another entity, the Geist Watershed Alliance
(www.geistwatershed.com) that is currently working on a first stage $60,000
grant focused on water quality issues on Geist and in our watershed area. We
would love to get you involved in either of these two groups, or can help
you mobilize other volunteers on a project that has a positive Geist
community impact. The only thing we can guarantee is zero pay for your time
and efforts.

We were very unhappy with the fireworks display. It left the mainbody and the southern portion of geist totally unable to see the fireworks. It was great for Cambridge and north. Does Our association no longer have fireworks or pay for fireworks any more. Almost all the homes in our association got to see the fireworks.
